Carol Knopes has been director of Education Projects at RTDNF since 2005. She directs the High School Journalism Project with the aim of bringing journalism - on air and online - to high schools and middle schools across the country. Her job is to sustain current high school programs and help start new ones. Carol began the RTNDFTEACHER listserv and the high school broadcast journalism website; she is very involved in training teachers. But she considers the most important part of her work finding exceptional master teachers and broadcast professionals to mentor new broadcast journalism teachers. Carol has been a newspaper editor and reporter since 1968, working at the Detroit Free Press, the Bergen Record and the Philadelphia Inquirer. She was on the first team of editors at USA TODAY.
